World Cup star Azzedine Ounahi could partner Tyler Adams in the Leeds United midfield, according to Pete O’Rourke.

The Angers midfielder was outstanding for Morocco as they made a historic run to the semi-finals, and he is already on the radar of top clubs including Barcelona.

The 22-year-old has been linked with a move to Leeds United, and O’Rourke has claimed that he would fit into the side well alongside Tyler Adams.

Speaking to This Is Futbol, O’Rourke explained that the pair would complement each other well under Jesse Marsch.

“They would look, on paper, a really good midfield partnership,” he stated.

“Great energy, both players have a great work ethic as well.

I think both those players could complement each other, that’s what you want in a midfield partnership, is players to complement each other, and I think Ounahi and Tyler Adams would definitely be able to do that.”

TIF thoughts on Ounahi and Leeds…

If Leeds can pull this deal off, given the interest in the midfielder following the World Cup, it would be something of a coup for the club.

Ounahi would indeed complement Adams well, with his silky dribbling ability next to Adams’ defensive robustness in the middle of the park.

The Moroccan astonishingly ranks in the top 1% of European midfielders for dribbles and would fit into Marsch’s policy of signing younger players.

With Marc Roca also an option, Ounahi will allow the team to be tactically flexible, as he is capable of playing in both a pivot and a three-man midfield, and is comfortable going forward as well as defending.

Leeds also need firepower upfront with Patrick Bamford struggling, but if they manage to complete the signing, he will likely develop into a great asset for Marsch.
