Leeds United defender Pascal Struijk has shared an emotional video online after he recently signed a new contract with the club.
The 23-year-old Dutchman put pen to paper on a fresh deal last week as he agreed to commit his long-term future to the Whites by adding a further four and a half years to his current contract – extending it until the summer of 2027.
Struijk joined from Dutch outfit Ajax back in January 2018 when he was just 18 years of age and has since established himself as a regular for the Premier League side.
After signing this new deal with Leeds, he took to Twitter to share a video that showed his journey as a professional footballer so far, which also included the caption: “It’s an ongoing story.”
TIF Thoughts on Pascal Struijk and Leeds…
Since joining the English club, Struijk has played 79 times for Leeds in all competitions. This year in particular, he has shown his versatility, by operating as a left-back despite predominantly being a central defender.
While he is yet to represent the Netherlands at senior level, he was named in the provisional squad for the first time back in September and so may not be too far away from an international debut.
Taking it all into account and remembering that he is still only 23 years of age, it’s clear Leeds have a very promising talent on their hands and will no doubt be delighted to have him tied down to this new deal.
And judging from the social media post, Struijk is pretty happy about it, too.
