Journalist Beren Cross has revealed that Leeds United winger Luis Sinisterra now could return from injury in mid to late January.

Back in November, the Colombian winger was ruled out of action until after the 2022 World Cup after suffering a foot injury known as a Lisfranc issue.

It has remained unclear as to when exactly he would be expected to return to full fitness for Leeds but he isn’t currently taking part in the five-day training camp in Spain.

However, in a positive update on the situation, Cross explained on a Facebook stream for LeedsLive that there is ‘optimism’ over Sinisterra as his injury ‘have been a lot worse’.

In full, he (4:17): “I think we’re still looking at maybe mid to late January for Sinisterra. He’s recovering from his Lisfranc injury of course.

“So there is some optimism there and I think it could have been a lot worse, but mid to late January is possibly the way Sinisterra will hopefully be back on his timescale.”

TIF Thoughts on Luis Sinisterra and Leeds…

Sinisterra joined the Whites in the summer on a five-year contract, moving from Dutch club Feyenoord for a notable transfer fee that was reported to be in the region of £21m.

For such a price, there has been pressure on the winger to perform but he delivered immediately, scoring three goals in his first three starts for the Premier League club (in all competitions).

However, since picking up this injury Sinisterra has not been able to feature at all and so he will no doubt be hoping to get back to full fitness as soon as possible.

At least the break for the World Cup has allowed him some time to recover and it sounds as if he will be ready to play again soon into the new year if all goes well.
