Journalist, Conor McGilligan has stated on the ‘One Leeds’ YouTube channel it’s ‘great’ that Leeds United are lining up certain players for January.

A couple of players on the lips at the moment when it comes to potential signings, both are currently at the World Cup. The first is Serbian midfielder, Sasa Lukic, according to Calciomercato.

The other is Ghanaian star, Mohammed Kudus. GhanaSoccerNet have reported that Leeds are one of many Premier League sides interested in recent times.

McGilligan believes that it could be difficult to land those players, especially if they perform well on the big stage. However, he’s delighted that Leeds seem to be lining up players ahead of January.

He said: (5:40) “We can have players like Sasa [Lukic] that we can look at players like that. We can look at players like Kudus, but they’re are going to be, if they’re the standout players on the pitch, if they’re getting in team of the weeks, if they’re, you know, getting player of the matches in their respective games. There are going to be a lot of big clubs looking at these boys.”

“We can go for them, of course we can. Listen, I’m not a recruitment guy, we can go for them but can we have an option B? Can we have an option C for Leeds United really to be able to hone in on?”

“I’m seeing things that Leeds are you know, lining up certain players, Leeds are looking at certain players. That’s great for me, that’s what I want to hear.”

TIF’s view on McGilligan’s comments…

We believe that Leeds will have to explore multiple different options in the positions they want to improve in, come January.

Kudus in particular will be a very tough challenge for Leeds to sign. He has 10 goals in all competitions so far this season with Ajax. Furthermore, there’s plenty of competition sniffing around including Arsenal and Newcastle, according to one report.

As for Lukic, there’s also interest from other clubs for the player. Manchester United and Roma are reported to have their eye on the Serbian midfielder.

However, Leeds have the likes of Tyler Adams and Brenden Aaronson in their squad, so the midfield shouldn’t necessarily be a priority, as far as Lukic is concerned.

The Whites sit just two points above the Premier League relegation zone in 15th. We think they’ll need some new recruits in, it could help them climb further away from the drop. With the right signings, Leeds could find themselves pushing for a mid-table finish.
