Journalist Dean Jones has told GiveMeSport that he expects Leeds United’s Tyler Adams to ‘see out’ the season amid speculation over his future.
A recent report from Football Insider stated that Manchester United were keeping tabs on the midfielder, with interest in Adams apparently dating back to his days playing for RB Leipzig.
His performances at the World Cup have caught the eyes of many, with one pundit saying he runs so much as he’ll “cover every single country in kilometres”.
Jones doesn’t expect the midfielder to leave for Manchester United, but he wouldn’t rule out a possible summer move from Elland Road.
He stated: “A move to Manchester United is not on at the moment. That’s not one that is active at all.
“From what I’m told, he’s going to see out the season and probably see what lands after that point.
“But it won’t surprise me at all to see him being linked with some big moves at the end of the season.”
TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…
We believe it’s no real surprise that Adams is attracting a lot of interest. He’s been sublime for club and country this season.
The 23-year-old is especially strong on the defensive side of the game. He currently ranks in the top 4% of blocks made and the top 9% for tackles in comparison to other midfielders over the past year (FBref).
During the World Cup group stages, Adams had an 89% pass accuracy and averaged 3.3 tackles per game, according to Sofascore, demonstrating that the Leeds man is a battler on the pitch and an effective distributor of the ball.
Adams only joined the Whites last summer, costing £20m from Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig.
Judging by his stats, he’s been worth every single penny, but whether Leeds will be offered the chance to make a profit in the near future remains to be seen.
