Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani has been slammed for his recent comments after appearing to suggest he has taken the club as far as he can.

Presenter and YouTuber Conor McGilligan has been left furious following the 48-year-old’s recent comments about his tenure at the West Yorkshire club.

The Leeds owner recently claimed: “I want to operate as a private equity in sport. Yes, perhaps Leeds can grow further, but in the future, they will need more resources to be able to reach higher levels and compete with the best clubs in the Premier League.

“As a result, I believe that due to the history of the club and the respect I have for the fans, it is right to let those who can invest more than me go forward and bring them to the glory of the past. There is also a design aspect: this is my sixth year, change is healthy.”

First up, which of these World Cup debutants could Leeds go back in for this winter?

This comes amid Leeds’ struggles in the Premier League with the Whites sitting slumped down in 15th spot of the Premier League table with just a three-point cushion to the bottom.

Leeds have been strongly linked with a potential full takeover from 49ers Enterprises, with the investors having gathered the funds needed, but this could be on hold until the end of the season.

And speaking on the One Leeds Fan Channel, McGilligan has slammed Radrizzani for his comments and urged him to sell up and move on with the January transfer market now just a few days away from opening.

He said: “Sell up now, then. Why have you not sold up now? Because this is the most important January, arguably, in the club’s history.
Why are we not making those preparations already? Why have we not got outside investment sorted for January? Why are we penny-pinching in January?”

“So Radz is essentially saying, if you read between the lines, he’s taken the club as far as he can go. And I’m just almost gobsmacked as to why we’re not looking for investment in this January window.

“Because that’s why you’re not hearing a lot from the 49ers, in my opinion, because they’re still very, very aware that they could get a good value for Leeds if we go down.”

TIF Thoughts on McGilligan’s comments…

It is only natural for comments like this to frustrate the fans, with a big January window on the horizon being met by Radrizzani’s words about how he may not be able to take the club any further.

Leeds find themselves in a similar position to last season when they could have benefited from some signings in the January transfer window amid their struggles.

But this was not to be the case, and Leeds were made to battle it out until the final day to preserve their top-flight status, and comments like this may have McGilligan fearing history may be about to repeat itself.
