Frank Lampard’s former assistant coach Jody Morris has claimed live on Sky Sports that the Everton manager will already be looking to sign a new striker.

Morris has previously worked very closely with Lampard, though he didn’t end up taking a coaching role with the Toffees boss at Goodison Park. However, he will likely still be very close with the 44-year-old.

Everton have recently been linked with moves for two strikers in the form of Jhon Duran and Viktor Gyokeres, although neither are Premier League-proven, so may need to adapt very quickly to the Toffees’ sticky situation near the bottom of the table.

While on Sky Sports, Morris was asked about Everton’s need for new signings and if they should be going in for a new attacker.

He responded: “I think Everton are in need of help up the top of the pitch with the injuries to Calvert-Lewin. I think Frank’s clearly been looking for a little bit of help from the attacking side.”

TIF Thoughts on Everton’s attacking woes…

It is no surprise that Everton are being linked with moves for strikers next month as they simply can’t rely on Dominic Calvert-Lewin to stay fit for a prolonged period of time, while Neal Maupay has failed to make a good impression since his summer arrival.

This has led to Everton being the third-lowest scorers in the Premier League with just 12 goals to their name – and their woes will have only been magnified further after tasting defeat to fellow relegation candidates Wolves on Monday.

Which of these Serie A stars did the Toffees miss out on?

If Everton are to move for one of Duran or Gyokeres, we think it would be a huge gamble and put a lot of pressure to on either of them, especially given their lack of top-level experience.
