Sky Sports journalist Alan Myers has claimed that Everton could well sell Anthony Gordon in the upcoming  January transfer market.

During the past summer window, a number of strong rumours saw the English winger linked with a potential big-money move away from the Toffees.

Indeed, it was claimed that Chelsea wanted Gordon and would have to pay as much as £60m if they wanted to land the Everton striker ahead of the Premier League season.

No deal came to pass but Myers has refused to rule out the possibility of an exit for the 21-year-old in the January transfer window as it edges ever closer.

Indeed, while speaking on All Together Now, he said: “Everything’s a possibility, you know. And I think every player’s got their price.

“I mean, I’m not sure there was ever a £60m [bid] for Anthony Gordon, to be honest. I think probably £35m to £40m was going to be the price if he had gone.”

He concluded: “So, do I think it will happen? Probably not. But, yeah, 100 per cent, it’s possible.”

TIF thoughts on Anthony Gordon and Everton…

After that summer of speculation, Gordon hasn’t exactly set the world on fire for Frank Lampard and co. Indeed, he has just three league goals to his name and zero assists in 14 appearances.

With that in mind, it’s hard to imagine anybody would pay the aforementioned £60m transfer fee for him, but at 21 years of age he had big potential and so Chelsea – or another top side – could still be keen on a deal.

Seeing as Everton are struggling in the Premier League – they sit just one point and one place above the bottom three – it could make sense to cash in on Gordon, if any offer comes in, and then reinvest that money in multiple new signings to strengthen the overall quality of the squad.

It certainly sounds as if there is still a chance the young forward could be off this winter. Something to keep an eye on perhaps.
