“All-action midfielder” Sasa Lukic could be just what Everton need to bring in this January.

That’s according to journalist Pete O’Rourke who has been speaking amid speculation linking the Serbian enforcer with a move to Goodison Park.

According to Italian media outlet Torino Granata it is ‘highly probable’ that Lukic is sold by Torino when the market reopens.

The same source credits the Toffees with an ‘interest’ in the £25k-per-week dynamo but they will have to fend off interest from Leeds United with the player set to evaluate his future after his World Cup campaign is over.

When asked whether the 26-year-old would be a good signing for Frank Lampard, O’Rourke told This Is Futbol: “Yeah, a good player Lukic. Again, playing at a good level.

“He’s away at the World Cup with Serbia – currently with Torino. A midfielder with good stamina, good energy, an all-action midfielder who will help protect the defence as well maybe that’s something that Everton are needing right now after finding themselves dropping down the Premier League table just before the World Cup.”

TIF Thoughts on Lukic and Everton…

Will Everton sign a new striker in January?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

The 34-cap star would certainly bring some bite to the Blues’ engine room having ranked second among midfielders at his current club this season for tackles (1.4) and interceptions (0.8) per 90 minutes in Serie A according to WhoScored.

However, during the summer those at Finch Farm paid particular attention to the middle third when it came to recruitment which would suggest that the hierarchy would be as well to focus their attention elsewhere.

Amadou Onana, Idrissa Gueye and James Garner all came in and with the club not in the best shape financially they will have to carefully work out where to allocate their funds.
