Chelsea target Denzel Dumfries has said that he is flattered by the links to the west London side ahead of the January window.
Back in the summer, it was reported by La Repubblica that the Blues were looking at signing the marauding right-back.
Corriere dello Sport has since claimed that Graham Potter’s side are willing to offer €50m (£43m) for the Inter defender in January.
The source also suggests that Dumfries could remain at the San Siro for the remainder of the season before linking up with Chelsea in the summer.
And fresh from grabbing a goal and two assists for the Netherlands in the last 16 at the World Cup, Dumfries has responded to the links.
Speaking to The Athletic, he said: “Of course, it’s a compliment.
“But when you put the Nerazzurri shirt on, that is also a big compliment.
“I’m focused on the national team and I play for a very, very beautiful club in Italy. I’m very proud that I can play for Inter so I am focused on nothing else but the national team and Inter.”
TIF Thoughts on Dumfries and Chelsea…
Would you like to see Dumfries at Chelsea?
Yes!
No!
Labelled as a ‘difference maker’ by Eurosport journalist Siavoush Fallahi, Dumfries has been directly involved in 17 goals in 65 Inter appearances.
The 26-year-old powerhouse is arguably reminiscent of Reece James in that regard, but a move for the 41-cap star would allow the England ace to move into the right of a back three.
BBC commentator Jonathan Pearce previously described the 26-year-old as a ‘freight train’ after his exceptional performances at the European Championship last summer, and with his exploits on the world stage, Chelsea’s pursuit may only intensify.
