Journalist, Pete O’Rourke spoke exclusively to This Is Futbol on Arsenal target, Yunus Musah.

He claims that the club will have ‘kept tabs’ on him. The American played for the Gunners at youth level before making the switch to Valenica B in 2019.

Musah operates primarily as a central midfielder, but has played as an attacking midfielder and a right winger before. Despite being only 20-years-old, he already has 22 caps for the USMNT.

Since he left the club, 90Min.com claims Arsenal has been tracking his development. The report also says that Chelsea and Liverpool have contacted his representatives.

Should Arsenal look to bring him back to North London, O’Rourke has claimed that Musah could be a player who could come into their midfield.

He stated, “Obviously Arsenal know all about him. He used to be in their youth ranks before he moved to Valencia so I’m sure they’ll have kept tabs on him and if he’s maybe available from Valencia, I’m sure he will come onto Arsenal’s radar or maybe being that player to come into midfield.”

TIF’s view on O’Rourke’s comments…

We believe that bringing Musah back to Arsenal would be a top signing. He could be a mainstay in the midfield for the long term.

Where the American excels is with the ball at his feet and his ability to move the ball forward. When compared to other midfielders across the top five leagues in Europe, the Champions League and Europa League, Musah is in the top 7% for dribbles completed and the top 14% for progressive passes received (FBref).

This season, the ex-Arsenal youth player has 11 La Liga appearances, making 10 starts, 2 assists and an 83% pass accuracy per Sofascore.

The Gunners could have the possibility to rectify the fact that they let Musah go. However, it could likely depend on the price tag that Valencia set on the 20-year-old.
