TalkSport pundit Simon Jordan has claimed that Borussia Dortmund prodigy Jude Bellingham should not join Paris Saint-Germain amid reported interest.

PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi recently spoke about his admiration for the player, and it was recently revealed that the Parisians are amongst the clubs tracking the 19-year-old.

Liverpool are also in the race for Bellingham, with Real Madrid also interested, but PSG certainly have the financial firepower to outmuscle both for the midfielder.

However, Jordan has claimed that the £130m-rated Englishman would be better served choosing a Premier League or La Liga club over PSG, claiming that the football in those leagues is more significant than the competition he would face in Ligue 1.

“I think there are more compelling leagues than the French league for him to play in. If he wants to go and play, with the greatest respect to our new friend, (Nasser Al-Khelaifi) for the Harlem Globetrotters of PSG that’s one thing. if he wants to go and play, again with the best respect intended, in significant football week in, week out the Premier League or La Liga are the two destinations I would advocate for him.”

TIF thoughts on Jordan and Bellingham…

Although there is a lot of quality to be found in Ligue 1 beyond PSG, Jordan’s overall point is one we agree with, there are better opportunities to be found elsewhere.

Despite the allure of playing alongside Lionel Messi or Kylian Mbappe, the England star could either return to England with a club like Liverpool or go for glory at Real Madrid, arguably the world’s biggest club.

The Premier League or La Liga will offer him a chance to prove himself at the highest level on a global platform, and succeeding at two of football’s most culturally significant clubs in Liverpool and Real will do far more for Bellingham than success at PSG.

If he does fulfil his potential, the chance to play alongside the world’s best at a club like PSG will always be there, and that is a path he could even take after finding glory in England or Spain, but the smarter move, for now, would be outside of France.
