The agent of Barcelona midfielder Franck Kessie has denied rumours that the midfielder is unhappy at the club just months after arriving on a free transfer.

The Ivorian has started just two La Liga matches this season and was recently linked with an early return to Milan, but agent George Atangana has told CalcioMercato that he is currently happy at the club.

He said: “Franck has never been as happy as he is now. He has achieved a goal that for many players remains only a dream, which is to play for Barcelona and I challenge anyone to say otherwise.”

When asked about the lack of regular game time, Atangana was confident that the 25-year-old was merely adjusting to Xavi’s system.

He added: “It is clear that over time, he expects to enter more and more into the mechanisms, but we have arrived in Spain and here the philosophy is different, Franck is adapting to a new type of football for him, which he has always played in a different way.

“Everyone in Barcelona is very happy with the player and the professional.”

TIF Thoughts on Kessie and Barcelona…

Given the form of the two outstanding young talents of Pedri and Gavi in the Barcelona midfield, it has proven tough for Kessie and even Frenkie de Jong to break into the team at Camp Nou.

Nevertheless, the £148k-per-week powerhouse was brought in over the summer as reliable depth, and with a long season ahead, including a Europa League campaign, he will almost certainly see more time on the pitch than he has so far.

It is down to Kessie to try and earn himself a regular spot whenever he is given a chance, but given he is happy at the club, we think a January move seems highly unlikely.
