Tottenham Hotspur left wing-back Ryan Sessegnon has recently named his dream World Cup XI alongside Matt Doherty where he included a rival player.

The 22-year-old Spurs ace featured in a recent video on the Tottenham Hotspur YouTube channel where he named Kalidou Koulibaly as one of his centre-backs.

Both Doherty and Sessegnon will not be playing at this year’s World Cup after the Republic of Ireland failed to qualify for the tournament and Sessegnon did not receive a call-up from Gareth Southgate.

However, they have been selecting a dream XI of the players who have gone to Qatar with one, perhaps, controversial inclusion in the form of a London rival.

Alongside the likes of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar, Sessegnon chose the Chelsea man to partner Virgil van Dijk in the heart of his defence with Doherty saying:

(4:00) “Koulibaly. Ok, that’s pretty strong.”

TIF Thoughts on Sessegnon’s decision…

It has to be made clear the two Spurs stars said from the beginning they would not choose their club teammates and were limited to just one player per country.

Is Sessegnon good enough for Spurs?

Yes

Yes

No

No

However, we are still slightly surprised to see Sessegnon choose the Chelsea man given the Blues’ recent struggles in defence which has seen the Senegalese centre-back come under some heat.

Although we are sure Spurs fans will not hold it against him too much, there will have been other options for him to choose from which we think the fans may have preferred him to say.
