Tottenham Hotspur target from last January Sofyan Amrabat is now expected to leave Fiorentina in the coming months.

This has been suggested by the reliable football journalist Fabrizio Romano who has been speaking about the Moroccan’s future on the latest Here We Go podcast.

It is believed Antonio Conte’s men made a push for the 26-year-old midfielder last January in their search for a new midfielder but instead opted for Rodrigo Betancur.

Amrabat now has 18 months remaining on his current deal with Fiorentina and it is believed even in the summer, Spurs shared an interest with Inter Milan in the midfielder.

And with the Moroccan now expected to leave the Serie A side in the summer, Romano has said to keep an eye on his situation with a number of big clubs interested:

(14:00) “He was close, Amrabat, to joining Tottenham one year ago, January 2022. But then no deal in place between Fiorentina and Tottenham. Antonio Conte wanted him.

“Keep an eye on Amrabat for summer 2023 I don’t see him moving in January, but in the summer many important clubs are [interested] in Amrabat who is doing very well with Fiorentina and Moroccan national team too.”

TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…

Spurs have had two standout performers in midfield this season in Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, however, their depth has been tested with the struggles Yves Bissouma has endured since arriving in the summer.

And with the Mali midfielder struggling to find his feet in Conte’s side, perhaps Spurs could look back to Amrabat in the summer with just one year remaining on his deal.

The 26-year-old has enjoyed a good spell in the Fiorentina side this season with 13 appearances to his name in Serie A and he could potentially prove a cheap option for Fabio Paratici to strengthen Conte’s options in the summer.
