Tottenham Hotspur are now showing interest over the possibility of signing the Borussia Monchengladbach right-back Joe Scally.

This is according to the insider Graeme Bailey who has been speaking on the latest Talking Transfers podcast to discuss the growing interest in the 19-year-old.

Spurs have already made a signing with the long-term in mind at left wing-back over the previous summer window in the form of Udinese’s Destiny Udogie and it seems the same may be on the radar for the right side of the defence.

Scally has featured prominently in Daniel Farke’s side this season where he has nailed down the right-back spot in the German’s four-at-the-back side.

Starting with the club's £60m summer signing, which of these players could Richarlison be facing?

And it is said Spurs are not the only club from the Premier League who are showing an interest in Scally with Bailey also believing Manchester United have him on their radar:

(30:30) “Yeah, it was a recent Gladbach [vs] Bayern [Munich] game, which was full of Premier League clubs. It was almost half of the Premier League were represented at the game.”

“But yeah, Joe Scally he’s 19, attack-minded, he’s got he’s got everything you want for an attacking full-back. This isn’t one for, I’m not saying it isn’t one for January, but it’s not one for a first-team straight away.”

“But yeah, this is a player very highly-rated. One for the summer possibly. But yeah, again if he comes in has a good World Cup, doesn’t look like he’s going to start at the minute, but yeah, he’s very much on the radar of Tottenham and [Manchester] United. ”

TIF Thoughts on Bailey’s comments…

Despite being just 19-years-old, Scally has become a huge member of the Monchengladbach side having racked up 15 Bundesliga appearances this season already.

Is right wing-back Spurs' biggest weakness?

No

And those appearances have not come as brief cameos from the bench, Scally has started every game for the German side this season across all competitions (via Transfermarkt).

Scally has even warranted a call-up to Gregg Berhalter’s USMNT squad for the upcoming World Cup where he will be hoping to add to his three caps for the national side.

It is interesting to hear Bailey suggest Scally would not arrive at Spurs with a spot in the starting XI in mind and that could perhaps be backed up by Djed Spence’s situation.

However, Scally does have experience in the German top-flight which could serve in his favour and with Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty failing to impress, perhaps this opens up a potential opportunity for the American.

Although Sergino Dest may be ahead of him in the battle for the starting right-back spot, it sounds as if Spurs will have an eye on the 19-year-old at this month’s tournament.
