Tottenham Hotspur are now expected to make at least two new signings in the upcoming January transfer window.

This is according to the journalist George Sessions who has been speaking on Chris Cowlin’s YouTube channel about Spurs’ plans ahead of the winter market.

Antonio Conte’s men have gone into the World Cup break in fourth spot of the Premier League and with Champions League football scheduled in the calendar for early next year.

However, it is apparent there is still work to be done in the January transfer window on the back of some big injury issues to some of their key forwards and issues in defence over recent weeks.

With the Lilywhites having the World Cup break as the perfect opportunity to access their transfer plans for January, Sessions provided his insight on what Spurs fans could expect:

(19:00) “And yeah, I’m certain Spurs will make at least two signings in January. And hopefully, they’re really, really top-quality signings. Or if not, you know, first starting players then they are going to be in that kind of 13/14/15 bracket of the squad that Conte wants to be reliable players essentially.”

TIF Thoughts on Sessions’ comments…

Spurs proved last January that they can transform their season with just two new additions after signing Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur.

So with that in mind, we do think Spurs could get away with signing just two new players in the upcoming market, however, it would put the pressure on Fabio Paratici to absolutely nail those additions.

And if Spurs are to replicate last January’s deals then it should give them a major boost for the second half of the campaign.

However, any less than two new faces and there will surely be some major questions put to the likes of Daniel Levy with Spurs showing clear defensive weaknesses in recent weeks.
