Tottenham Hotspur may look to sign Clement Lenglet on a permanent deal in the summer when his loan deal expires.

Reliable Spurs correspondent Alasdair Gold has described this as a no-brainer for the north London side when speaking on his latest YouTube video.

Spurs signed the centre-back in the summer on a season-long loan deal from Barcelona after they missed out on their number on target in Alessandro Bastoni.

Starting with the club's £60m summer signing, which of these players could Richarlison be facing?

However, it is not believed Fabio Paratici negotiated a buy clause in the deal for the French defender – hailed a “top player” by Didier Deschamps –  who will, therefore, be set to return to the La Liga outfit at the end of the campaign.

But following a promising start to life in north London, Gold believes it is plausible Spurs will approach Barcelona in the summer with a proposal to keep Lenglet in N17 permanently:

(1:02:00) “There is no option to buy him but I guess if it goes on and has a very good second half of the season, that becomes a bit of a no-brainer, really. And I’m sure Spurs will try and sort of thing out.”

TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…

Spurs have had a turbulent season so far in defence with the World Cup break coming at a great time for Conte’s men to reset after what had been a difficult month for the Lilywhites.

Lenglet has made a slow introduction into Conte’s starting XI in the Premier League with just seven starts in the English top flight to his name (via Transfermarkt).

However, he has played a big role in the Champions League campaign with four starts under his belt and a crucial goal in the crunch game against Marseille earlier this month.

And in recent weeks, he has even dislodged Eric Dier from the central spot at centre-back which could be a big sign of Conte’s trust in the Frenchman.
