Journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Manchester United are confident of finalising a new contract with talented winger Alejandro Garnacho.

Just before Premier League football paused to allow for the 2022 winter World Cup, it seems as though the teenager was just starting to find some real form.

Indeed, Garnacho even scored his first league goal in the 94th minute of the final game before the break, netting a last-gasp winner away from home against Fulham.

Amid his recent breakthrough at senior level, it’s no shock to hear that Manchester United are keen to tie him to a new contract that more accurately reflects his growing importance to the team.

And while speaking about the present situation on his YouTube channel, Romano was able to provide a pretty positive update on that front.

Indeed, he explained (1:23): “Now in November, December, Manchester United are in advanced negotiation with Garnacho and with his agents to get the new deal done.

“There is a very positive feeling around the negotiation. It will be a five-year deal with Garnacho. The player is really happy with Manchester United. He’s playing and so he feels that the club are trusting him 100 per cent.”

TIF thoughts on Alejandro Garnacho and MUFC…

The Argentinian really has started to make a big impact for Erik ten Hag of late, having now scored in both the league and the Premier League this season, while also providing two assists in the recent Carabao Cup win over Aston Villa.

And while he won’t be going to the World Cup – he is still yet to make his senior debut with Argentina – the winger has four caps at the youth level for his country, and has also represented the U18 Spain side (via Transfermarkt).

Still only 18 years of age, it’s easy to feel as if big things will be expected of Garnacho over the coming years and so it’s not hard to see why United would be so keen to land him on a big new contract, and having him commit his future to the Red Devils.
