Journalist Fraser Fletcher has claimed that Ryan Kent could sign a new contract at Rangers if they chose to hire Michael Beale as manager.

As things stand, the Englishman’s deal will expire in less than six months’ time, on 31st May (via Transfermarkt). And it has been reported that the 25-year-old will snub any new contract offered to him.

Indeed, Football Insider recently reported that Kent was interested in a move to the Premier League and could either leave for a cut-price this winter or move for free in the summer.

However, with Beale – the former assistant manager at Rangers – now looking likely to return to the Scottish Premiership club as their new boss, it seems as though Kent could change his mind about his future.

Speaking about the situation on Twitter, Fletcher wrote: “Michael Beale’s expected appointment as Rangers gaffer could have knock-on effects for Ryan Kent’s future.

Although coveted by other clubs Kent loved working with Beale and was brought to Rangers after being identified by Beale and Gerrard. Could be the catalyst for an extension.”

TIF Thoughts on Ryan Kent and Rangers…

Beale worked with Rangers from the summer of 2018 until November 2021 before moving with former manager Steven Gerrard to Aston Villa in England.

In that time, he was part of the coaching staff that helped the Scottish club win the league for the first time in a decade. Of course, Kent was a key part of that success too.

Indeed, the Englishman scored 13 goals and provided 15 assists in total across all competitions that season and so it’s easy to see why he may feel as though Beale could get the best out of him again.

It will certainly be interesting to see how it all plays out if the QPR manager does end up back at Rangers.
