According to Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews), Milan are still monitoring Real Madrid attacker Marco Asensio, with the club potentially keen on signing him in the coming months.

Asensio’s deal with Los Blancos will run out next summer and it is thought that the Spaniard doesn’t seem close to striking a new deal at Madrid, despite their intentions of keeping him.

In addition, he is a client of super-agent Jorge Mendes, who will have plenty of experience brokering big deals given the calibre of players under his wing.

This season, the attacker has played in the majority of Real Madrid’s league games, playing nine, scoring once and assisting twice.

However, he has only had one start in La Liga thus far, and only started half of Madrid’s league matches last term, so perhaps there is a deal to be had for Milan.

TIF Thoughts on Milan’s interest in Asensio…

We believe that Asensio, who has been hailed as ‘extraordinary’, would boost Milan’s attacking options – particularly if the 26-year-old could be snapped up on a free in the summer, as acquiring a three-time Champions League and La Liga winner for free would surely be an absolute steal.

However, it could be argued his stats leave a little to be desired this season. That said, it does appear Asensio is still performing relatively well.

He has an average rating of 7.05 on Sofascore, which is pretty strong considering his goals and assists tally has been a little underwhelming amid his inconsistent game time.

What significantly boosts Milan’s chances of landing Asensio, is that he seems far from signing a new deal, and you would imagine that a free transfer could boost his salary prospects.

So should Asensio part ways with Real Madrid next summer, we wouldn’t be surprised to see Milan take a gamble on the winger.
