Milan midfielder Ismael Bennacer is set to sign a new deal by the end of the year which should renew his deal until 2027.

That’s according to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Football Italia). The Italian side have signed a number of players to new contracts, including Fikayo Tomori last summer.

Bennacer’s contract expires in 2024, so he would have an extra three years to his deal. Furthermore, the report claims the talks have gone on for a number of weeks and the deal will soon be announced.

The report also states the 25-year-old has a €50m (£44m) release clause that is active during the early stages of the summer. However, it is not yet known if the clause will be kept or removed upon signing the new contract.

TIF Thoughts on Bennacer’s potential new deal…

We believe that signing Bennacer to a new deal is the right move from Milan. In his last five league appearances, the Algerian has recorded a rating on Sofascore of at least 7/10 on four occasions, showing his consistency for the Italian side.

And given his versatility, we believe he would be an important player to retain the services of.

Ideally, removing the release clause would be best for Milan. That way, if clubs do come sniffing around, they could potentially generate even more money from a potential sale should his career kick on in the coming years.
