AC Milan are preparing an €8 million bid (just under £7 million) for Lyon’s Houssem Aouar, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews),

The same report also states that the club would be willing to let Yacine Adli go out on loan in January. This would be in order to open up a space in squad for Aouar.

Milan sit in 2nd in Serie A, but they’re 8 points behind league leaders Juventus. Adding the Frenchman would definitely bolster the Italian side’s depth in midfield.

Aouar has only played 6 times for the Ligue 1 side, suggesting he is out of favour with manager, Laurent Blanc. So, in fact, a move to AC Milan could be very beneficial for the player.

Swapping Adli for Aouar would make a lot of sense. The Lyon man can also play as an attacking midfielder (where Adli normally plays), but he’s more accustomed to playing a little deeper as a central-midfielder.

TIF’s view on AC Milan’s bid for Aouar…

We can definitely see why Milan would look to Aouar, who has been hailed as ‘excellent’ by Lionel Messi, to bolster their midfield. However, the French midfielder based on his recent form has not been so impressive.

There’s no doubt the midfielder does certainly have a lot of talent and he’s shown it in the past. He bagged 14 goal contributions for Lyon in the 2018/19 campaign.

A fresh start in a new league could be just what Aouar needs. He’s been with the French side since he was a youth player.

At a fee of around £7 million, he could in fact be a real steal, should he impress at AC Milan. He’s still only 24-years-old, which means he has time to grow and develop as a player.
