Joshua Barrie, sometimes seen on Sky Sports News, has said that the fate of Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s backroom team is still undecided.

The Dutch manager was sacked from his role as Rangers manager on Monday morning with the club nine points off the top of the Scottish Premiership.

It comes just a year on from his arrival at Ibrox following Steven Gerrard’s departure for Aston Villa.

However, following a dismal Champions League campaign and amid their stuttering league form the Light Blues have ultimately decided to part ways with the 47-year-old during the World Cup break.

But Barrie says the future of his coaching staff is still undecided.

Speaking on the Rangers Review YouTube channel he said:

(4:22) “As I understand at the moment the backroom staff, that decision is still to be made on some of those positions obviously van Bronckhorst I think brought in six staff overall.

“I think there was a fitness coach, analyst, Roy Makaay, Dave Vos, Ceri Bowley.
“You know if you look at Dave Vos’ reputation before he came to Rangers I think with his youth coaching at Ajax and Ceri Bowley coming from the City Group their role is perhaps slightly bigger than the first team so I guess that’ll come into consideration.
“I guess that news will emerge of that this week.”

TIF Thoughts on Barrie’s comments…

Would you want Beale at Rangers?

Yes

Yes

No!

No!

As the journalist pointed out Dr. Ceri Bowley was formerly Manchester City’s head of academy coaching while Dave Vos had been with Ajax at the underage level for ten years.

Their quality would be undeniable but it’s probable that whoever comes in to replace van Bronckhorst will want to bring in their own backroom team.

Michael Beale and Steven Gerrard who are seen as candidates may consider keeping those already there given their recent history with the club but other contenders such as Sean Dyche or Ralph Hasenhuttl would likely want a full reset so it will be interesting to see the club’s stance on the situation in the coming days.
