Rangers: Tam McManus urges club to accept Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos offer

|

Pundit Tam McManus has urged Rangers to take whatever they can get for Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos in January.

The Gers have been left in a difficult situation with both players out of contract at the end of the season, and McManus believes they should look to avoid losing them for nothing.

Both men perhaps have their futures on their minds, with a total combined tally of four goals in 33 appearances between them this season.

Kent has been described as a ‘passenger’ for his performances this season by journalist Mark Guidi, while Morelos has played just 544 minutes of football, finding himself second-choice to summer arrival Antonio Colak.

When asked on PLZ Soccer’s The Football Show whether it makes sense for the club to cash in on the duo while they still can, McManus said: “I think it does, 100%. I think that neither are going to sign a new deal and I think that any kind of offer that you get for them and take money for them, you would take, because it’s clear to me that they’re both going to run their contracts down and go for nothing.

“So from a Rangers point of view, if they were playing in the team and indispensable, and banging goals in and performing really, really well, then you would think you’d want to try and keep them, but neither of them are playing well at the minute.

“So if I was Rangers supporter, I would be looking at that and going I’d take whatever I could get for them and move them on and then use that money that you get for them and you can try and reinvest in the team.”

TIF Thoughts on McManus’ comments…

Should Rangers sell Morelos in January?

No

By all means, we would agree with McManus on this one, but for the Light Blues, this really does seem like a huge opportunity missed.

Back in June, Sevilla reportedly offered £6.9m to sign the club’s Colombian striker, while Kent has been the subject of interest from Leeds United in the past, with a £20m asking price set.

While it remains to be seen what the Ibrox outfit will obtain for the duo, it is certain to be much less than what they were once worth.
