Former footballer and now presenter Curtis Woodhouse has claimed that Ralph Hasenhuttl would be an ‘outstanding appointment’ as the new Rangers manager.
Earlier this week, it was confirmed that Giovanni van Bronckhorst would be leaving the Scottish Premiership outfit after only a year-long spell in charge.
The Dutchman may have helped his team to the Europa League final and a Scottish Cup title last term, but after a shocking exit from the Champions League amid faltering league form too, Rangers have opted to sack the manager (via BBC Sport).
Incidentally, Hasenhuttl is also just out of a job having been fired from Southampton earlier on in November. And so, he is on the market should the Ibrox club come calling.
Woodhouse certainly seems to think this could be a smart move. Indeed, taking to Twitter, he said: “Ralph Hasenhuttl would be an outstanding appointment. He’s the real deal, excellent coach.”

TIF thoughts on Ralph Hasenhuttl and Rangers…
Hasenhuttl would arrive with a pretty good pedigree having managed in both the Bundesliga (with RB Leipzig) and the Premier League – where he oversaw 173 matches in all competitions for the Saints (via Transfermarkt).
However, things didn’t end so well for him in England as he left Southampton in the relegation zone having suffered six defeats in his past nine top-flight matches.
Even so, he did perform fairly well in England for a number of years and it seems as though some, like Woodhouse, still feel as though the Austrian has plenty to offer.
It certainly feels as though Rangers could do a lot worse than to hire Hasenhuttl but it remains to be seen if any genuine interest will form in the coming weeks.
