Journalist Pete O’Rourke has claimed that Ralph Hasenhuttl would be a ‘big arrival’ at Rangers if the club were to hire him as their new manager.

After it was confirmed that Giovanni van Bronckhorst would be leaving the Scottish Premiership club earlier on in November, plenty of speculation has grown over who will be the next person in charge.

While QPR boss Michael Beale seems closest to the job at the moment, there have been reports that negotiations for him to leave the Championship side are at a ‘standstill for now’.

And so, while things are still up in the air, Pete O’Rourke has mooted the option of Hasenhuttl – who is also out of work having been fired from Southampton earlier on in the season.

Indeed, while speaking exclusively to This is Futbol, he said: “Yeah, it’d be a big arrival if they could persuade Ralph Hasenhuttl to make the move to Scotland.

“Obviously, he’s been in the Premier League for quite a few years now with Southampton and it obviously didn’t work out for him in the end. But I think he did have successful times at Southampton.

“So I think his CV is still pretty impressive.”

TIF thoughts on Ralph Hasenhuttl and Rangers…

It seems as though Pete O’Rourke isn’t the only one who thinks Hasenhuttl could do a decent job for Rangers. Indeed, former Former footballer and now presenter Curtis Woodhouse also backed the Austrian to succeed in Scotland.

He recently said: “Ralph Hasenhuttl would be an outstanding appointment. He’s the real deal, excellent coach.”

The former Saints man certainly has a wealth of experience having overseen 151 Premier League games in charge during his time on the south coast of England. Add to that his time with RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga, and it’s not hard to see why Pete O’Rourke notes his ‘impressive’ CV.

If Beale doesn’t agree to leave QPR, it will certainly be interesting to who Rangers target next. Perhaps Hasenhuttl should be their man. n
