Sky Sports pundit Andy Walker has hit out at Rangers for allowing Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent to run their contract down at Ibrox.

Both players will see their deals expire at the end of the season and will be able to sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside of Scotland in January.

Managing director Stewart Robertson told Rangers Review (via footballscotland) that discussions were ongoing over revised deals and played down fears of a Bosman switch.

However, talks seem to have gone cold over the out-of-sorts pair who seemingly have their sights set on a different venture.

Speaking on the GO Radio Football Show Walker has criticised the club’s handling of the situation.

He said: (32:38) “The idea of losing him (Morelos) for nothing as well as Ryan Kent I think it’s poor management, poor management decisions.”

TIF Thoughts on Walker’s comments…

Would you want Beale at Rangers?

No!

No!

Both at 26, Kent and Morelos are both still around their peak market value from their time at the club with the former still valued at £15m (€17.5m) according to Transfermarkt.

However, given the precarious situation surrounding the duos’ contracts, it’s unlikely that the club could recoup that figure for the two combined.

It is a situation that shouldn’t have been allowed to develop though with journalist Pete O’Rourke pleading in the summer to take what they could get for their key men before heading into the final 12 months of their deals.

Kent could still be of worth to the club but it will be up to the new manager to try and persuade him to stay while we feel Morelos should be let go either way due to continuing questions over his weight and discipline
