Rangers’ Champions League performances have been branded as “not good enough” following their sixth defeat out of six in the group stage this season.

TalkSport presenter and pundit Jamie O’Hara was speaking on the station in the immediate aftermath of their 3-1 home defeat to Ajax.

Following that defeat and their goal difference record of -20, Rangers have been confirmed as the worst-performing group stage team since the Champions League’s inception.

Manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst was already under pressure leading up to the fixture, but tensions are likely to have increased following another tepid display from last season’s Europa League runners-up.

And O’Hara believes that Rangers have been shown up to be “out of their depth” in Europe’s premier club competition.

“They’re out of their depth, aren’t they?

“They’re out of their depth, so Rangers fans can have their say, he’s not good enough, does Gio need to go, is his time up?

“You had a great run last season in the Europa League, but you can’t go down as the worst team in Champions League history, that’s not acceptable.

“For the players they’ve got, the size of the football club that they are, that’s not good enough!”

How well do you remember where Rangers' signings came in from down the years? Take our quiz to find out! First up, Carlos Pena was the Gers' most expensive arrival during the summer of 2017, but where did he join from?

TIF Thoughts on O’Hara’s comments…

Despite being placed in an incredibly tough Champions League group also alongside Napoli and Liverpool, it will come as a huge disappointment to Rangers that they have failed to pick up so much as a point during this campaign.

After a run to the Europa League final last season, we think that the club’s expectations should have been that the side could at the very least compete for third place in the group and secure passage to the knockout stages of Europe’s second-tier continental competition past the new year.

Therefore, we agree with O’Hara and believe that the performances from the Rangers squad and Van Bronckhorst have not been good enough this season.
