Former Premier League striker Kevin Campbell, often seen on Sky Sports, believes that Liel Abada and Giorgos Giakoumakis will agree to improved deals at Celtic.

Earlier this week the news was broken by Sky Sports News reporter Lyall Thomas that the Hoops had opened talks with the attacking duo over fresh terms following their fine start to the campaign.

Both players were only brought to the club last summer with the Israeli talent Abada inking a deal until 2026

Giakoumakis meanwhile, was brought in for £2.5m and signed until the end of the same season, 2025/26.

However, when asked by Football Insider if he thought both players would extend their already lengthy deals Campbell said:

“Listen, these guys have been excellent.

“They have been a key part of what has been a prolific attack this season.

“They are going to get signed up. You cannot afford to let these guys run down their contracts or leave.

“I’m sure they will put pen to paper on new contracts as well, they look like they’re enjoying their football at the moment.”

TIF Thoughts on Campbell’s comments…

Should Giakoumakis return to the starting XI?

Yes

No

No

Considering both have been taken from obscurity at Maccabi Petah Tikva and VVV-Venlo respectively and into the heights of the Champions League, you could understand why Abada and Giakoumakis would be keen to pen revised deals.

The latter has already netted eight goals this season and has consolidated himself as a Greek international.

Meanwhile, Abada is averaging 0.83 goals per 90 minutes having weighed in with eight and two assists this term and has earned his first senior call-up since moving to Parkhead.

Given the form of the duo, we believe they deserve a pay hike to bring them in line with some of the club’s top earners and we think it won’t be long until they put pen to paper.

What’s the difference who starts and who finishes Giakoumakis if plays first half ok but I think kyoko with his movement tires players out then Giakoumakis comes on against tired defenders but manager has his reasons and has would have told players I think turnbull will be getting more playing time he is beginning to get what manager wants him to play
