Journalist Pete O’Rourke has said that Julen Lopetegui’s previous relationship with Nacho Fernandez could help aid a potential transfer to Wolves.

The defender has been linked with an ambitious move to Molineux which would see him reunite with Lopetegui under whom he played 11 times at Real Madrid before the 56-year-old was sacked during the 2018/19 campaign.

He is out of contract come the end of the season and is thought to be stalling over a new deal amid a lack of game-time this season.

When asked by This is Futbol if he thought Lopetegui’s previous affiliation with Fernandez could aid a potential deal O’Rourke said: “Yeah, it can only help I think if you’ve got a relationship with the manager.

“Nacho Fernandez is a quality player. Real Madrid and Spain international defender so I think he’d definitely be a big improvement if he was to come to Wolves. He would offer great experience.”

TIF Thoughts on Nacho and Wolves…

Is it realistic to think Wolves can sign Nacho?

Yes, why not?

Yes, why not?

Not a chance!

Not a chance!

The 32-year-old rock has won every honour there is to win at club level at the Bernabeu including winning the Champions League five times.

The £133k-per-week star has made 286 appearances for Los Blancos ever since emerging from their Castilla.

He would most definitely vast experience to the Old Gold and having played just 141 minutes of La Liga football this term he could be enticed to move on.

However, whether he will fancy a move to the Midlands over other potential suitors he is likely to have remains to be seen and we don’t see there being much legs in this one.
