Journalist Nathan Judah has slammed Wolves defender Nelson Semedo after his terrible display in the club’s most recent defeat.
While their may be cautious cause for optimism for the Premier League side at the moment have finally appointed Julen Lopetegui as their new head coach, there are still plenty of reasons to be concerned too.
These problems were apparent on Saturday as Brighton and Hove Albion arrived at Molineux and managed to pick up all three points in a stunning 3-2 away win.
In particular, it was a day to forget for Semedo as he was at fault for Kaoru Mitoma’s headed goal, while he also then got himself sent off right on the cusp of halftime for a foul on the Seagulls’ winger.
After the game, Judah took to Twitter to express his anger at the Wolves defender, saying: “27.5m for Semedo. Honestly sometimes he doesn’t look like a £275k player.
“Soundly beaten for Brighton’s equaliser and now Wolves down to 10 in another big game. So, so, so frustrating. Game turned on its head now.”

Judah also called the defender ‘absolutely awful’ after his ‘inexcusable’ decision to take down Mitoma.
Seeing as Semedo played a huge part in this defeat, it’s not hard to see why he has come into some criticism. According to SofaScore, in his time on the pitch before picking up the red card, he managed just 1/4 attempted duels, lost the ball 3 times, failed with his only attempted long ball and didn’t contribute to the attack as he managed no shots or crosses.
What’s more, of players who have managed more than 500 minutes of football in the league for Wolves this season, the 28-year-old has the lowest average march ratings on WhoScored with 6.31.
Semedo certainly didn’t arrive from Barcelona for cheap – with Sky Sports claiming he could one day cost as much as £36.8m with all add-ons included – but it’s hard to believe he’s been worth close to that sort of money.
All in all, it was yet another poor day for the defender who cost his team so valuable points.
