Journalist Nathan Judah has questioned the attitude of some Wolves players after they were ‘walking’ during the club’s most recent match.
The Premier League outfit have finally appointed a new manager after former boss Bruno Lage was sacked in early October. Indeed, Julen Lopetegui has arrived in England and was in the stands watching the team this weekend.
Unfortunately for Wolves, they could not pick up any points in front of the Spaniard as they suffered a 2-0 home defeat against league leaders Arsenal.
The loss means Lopetegui’s men will now be bottom of the division for a number of weeks while the World Cup takes place, and the issues at the club were highlighted by Judah when speaking after the game on the Express & Star YouTube channel.
Indeed, he said: “It is frightening when you mention it now – you’ve got a new manager watching on and you really want to show what you can do on the pitch and some players are still walking.
“It’s just like… it’s absolutely astonishing, really, when you think about it.”
TIF Thoughts on Julen Lopetegui and Wolves…
While it sounds as if there were potentially a number of players who were ‘walking’ around during this most recent league game, Goncalo Guedes may well have been one man particularly guilty of this – and was called out on the night by Judah’s colleague, Liam Keen.
Keen said on the same podcast that Guedes’ work rate was ‘very poor’ and slammed him for taking the opportunity to walk whenever possible.
All in all, it really is pretty shocking behaviour from any of the guilty Wolves men and it seems likely that new boss Lopetegui would have been watching on and taking notes. No doubt, he’ll have to quickly halt this sort of thing if he is to help the club avoid the drop this season.
