Express and Star journalist Liam Keen has slammed Wolves forward Goncalo Guedes for his poor display in the club’s most recent defeat.

It has not been a good first part of the season for the Premier League club and they will now spend Christmas Day at the very foot of the table, dead last as a direct consequence.

Indeed, their fate was sealed yesterday when they fell 2-0 at home to league leaders Arsenal, who netted twice through captain Martin Odegaard.

While it was a poor day for most, it seems as though one man, in particular, failed to impress, with Keen noting even the home crowd made their feelings known towards Guedes and his bad performance.

While speaking on the Express & Star YouTube Channel, he said (1:38): “And then you have certain players with body language… I think Guedes, again, despite a couple of the chances I mentioned, [his] work rate was very poor today.

“Too many opportunities for him to walk and he took them. And the fans reacted as they should do. Plenty of times in that second half, the South Bank was unhappy with him.”

Do you remember who Wolves signed Ivan Cavaleiro from?

TIF thoughts on Goncalo Guedes and Wolves…

Wolves only signed the Portuguese forward in the summer, as he arrived from Valencia on a five-year deal worth a reported £27.5m. He’s not exactly set the world on fire since then though.

Indeed, in his first 14 outings for the club in all competitions, he has just scored one goal and made one assist. It seems as if this latest display was a continuation of that uninspiring form.

His stats on SofaScore belie a difficult afternoon too. Guedes completed just 76 per cent of his 25 attempted passes, failed with all five attempted crosses, lost the ball 16 times and was caught offside twice.

With that in mind, it’s little wonder the home crowd were so unhappy.
