Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Wolves are very close to appointing Julen Lopetegui as their new manager.
Wolves have been through a lot over the last few weeks, having sacked Bruno Lage before then being rejected by both Lopetegui and Michael Beale, although their persistence may soon pay off as they edge closer to landing the Spanish boss.
Lopetegui has previously rejected Wolves’ approaches to become their manager twice with the latest one being down to family and personal reasons, however, they recently re-opened advanced talks with the out-of-work boss and they appear to have been positive.
Romano has confirmed on his YouTube channel that Wolves are now all but ready to announce Lopetegui as Lage’s successor.
He said; “Wolves are set to complete the agreement with Julen Lopetegui as their new manager, work in progress on the final details, we know that Lopetegui is now available after being fired by Sevilla and replaced by Jorge Sampaoli.
“So now work in progress for Lopetegui and Wolves, they are discussing the final details of the deal, they are on the final points of this story because it’s about the final discussions with his agent.

“It was not easy a few weeks ago because of personal stories of Lopetegui he wanted to take some time out of football but now the situation has changed and so Lopetegui has a very good chance to become the new permanent manager of Wolves.”
TIF Thoughts on Wolves’ pursuit of Lopetegui…
There are two different ways of looking at Wolves’ prolonged pursuit of Lopetegui. One is that they have clearly never given up nor lost hope in their ability to bring a former Real Madrid manager to Molineux, and their persistence should be praised.
Although, the other and more negative point of view is one that if they have had to work this hard to convince Lopetegui that Wolves is the right place for him to continue his work in management may beg the question of whether really going to be enthused over working at Molineux.
Nobody knows Lopetegui’s true motivation for seemingly wanting to take the Wolves job now, whether it be to prove himself in England or perhaps a financial incentive, but if he can keep them in the Premier League, no fans will likely care.
