West Ham United are weighing up a move to bring Borussia Dortmund and Portugal left-back Raphaël Guerreiro to the London Stadium, in a move which may concern Emerson Palmieri.

According to reports in France, David Moyes is interested in bringing the full-back to east London in the January transfer window.

Leeds United are also showing an interest in the 57-time Portugal international, who will be out of contract next summer.

Therefore, West Ham could move in the winter to get him at a cut-price fee, or even make a move to sign him as a free agent at the end of the season – though interest from elsewhere may force their hand.

Guerreiro has travelled with the Portugal squad to Qatar for the World Cup this month, with Moyes and GSB likely to be casting a watchful eye over their potential transfer target.

The Euro 2016 winner has made 18 appearances for Dortmund so far this season, scoring three goals and providing three assists as the Bundesliga side look to secure another Champions League finish.

If Guerreiro was to become a West Ham player in January, it may be considered a surprise if he didn’t become a regular at left-back, with his experience of playing at the top level for so long unlikely to go unnoticed at the London Stadium.

All of this could come as a disappointment to summer signing Emerson, who has struggled to make his mark on Moyes’ side in the Premier League since his arrival from Chelsea in August.

How well do you know where West Ham's signings came from? Take our quiz to find out! First up, where did Fabian Balbuena come in from?

The full-back, whose delivery has been described as “below-par” by journalist Malik Ouiza, has made seven Premier League appearances for the Irons so far this campaign, and has not featured since a 1-1 draw with Southampton in the middle of October, with Aaron Cresswell generally being the first-choice left-back in the side.

Therefore, we think that the signing of Guerreiro would come as a huge blow to the Italian, with the full-back likely to be relegated to third-choice in this area of the pitch, and likely to be limited to appearances in the early rounds of the cup and Europa Conference League ties, at best.

In our opinion, we can’t foresee a circumstance in which Emerson has much of a West Ham future if Guerreiro is signed, which could perhaps see him seeking pastures new after just half a season in east London.
