ExWHUemployee has reported that West Ham United trio Alphonse Areola, Nayef Aguerd and Angelo Ogbonna are all expected to start in the club’s next game.
This week, the third round of the Carabao Cup will take place as the Hammers host Blackburn Rovers at the London Stadium in hopes of making the next stage of the competition.
West Ham have not endured the greatest season so far and this is reflected by their place in the Premier League. Indeed, after 13 matches, they sit 15th and are just two points above the bottom three.
With a number of key players evidently underperforming, the cup may afford some others to impress. It seems Areola, Aguerd and Ogbonna will be among those given the chance to shine if the latest reporting is accurate.
Indeed, in an update on The West Ham Way Patreon page, Ex said: “It is expected that cup ‘keeper Areola will return and Nayef Aguerd and Angelo Ogbonna will continue to get starts to build up their match fitness. Emerson, who didn’t play in either the league game against Palace or Europe, could also be expecting some time in this cup fixture.”
