Presenter Dan Lawless has slammed West Ham United manager David Moyes’ post-game comments following the club’s recent defeat.

The Hammers have been far from their best in the first part of the season. As a result, they will now spend Christmas just two places and one point above the bottom three in the Premier League.

Their poor form this term was summed up in their final game before the break for the World Cup as Leicester City arrived at the London Stadium and left with all three points in a 2-0 win.

Speaking after the game, Moyes was asked by Sky Sports News about what he thought of fans booing him. While he said he understood the reaction, he also added: “Sometimes it’s easy to forget how well we’ve done. We’ve just won our group in Europe and we’ve also got to a semi-final in Europe. As I said, last couple of years, sixth and seventh. So I would hope that would come into their thoughts.”

Evidently unhappy with his manager’s words, the West Ham Fan TV man took to Twitter to say: “He don’t do himself any favours with these interviews, honestly. Acting like he has raised our standards, this wouldn’t be good enough at any point especially after spending £170m.”

TIF Thoughts on David Moyes and West Ham…

As Moyes points out, West Ham have enjoyed some pretty good times in recent seasons. For instance, and perhaps most notably, the manager led them to a Europa League semi-final last term.

Still, that was in the campaign prior, and things are clearly not going so well this time around. Even though the club backed their manager heavily in the summer transfer market – spending big on new signings like Lucas Paqueta, Gianluca Scamacca, Nayef Aguerd and Thilo Kehrer – the Irons have not improved.

With all that in mind, it’s easy to see both sides of the argument, but it’s pretty obvious that some West Ham fans have had enough and are ready for change. With that in mind, it will be interesting to see if Moyes survives the winter break and if a new man is in charge come Boxing Day.
