ExWHUemployee has expressed his concern after West Ham United defender Arthur Masuaku suffered a bad injury on loan.
The 28-year-old is currently out on loan for the season with Besiktas and had been playing pretty well for the Turkish club. Indeed, the left-back had made himself a regular in the team, starting every league game until his recent fitness setback.
However, the West Ham man looks to have suffered a terrible slice of luck and may now spend a number of months on the sidelines thanks to a knee injury.
Indeed, while writing on The West Ham Way Patreon page, Ex labelled the latest development as ‘bad news’, with Masuaku now potentially out for somewhere in the region of three months.
In full, he said: “Arthur Masuaku has been ruled out for a sustained period of time. Whilst reports are unclear, the injury could be up to three months and appears to be a Bone Edema injury to his knee.
“Arthur has had problems with his knees for a number of years and this is bad news for the defender, who turned 29 this week. The player is on loan to Besiktas in Turkey for the season and has made a good start to his career at Slaven Bilic’s former club.”

As Ex alludes to, the defender has suffered some past injury troubles. According to Transfermarkt, issues with his knee have seen him spend varying lengths of time out on six different occasions.
Evidently, this is a problem area for Masuaku and it’s a great shame to hear that the familiar issue has reared its head again. This will be of great concern to the left-back as it puts his future in doubt.
Indeed, it has been reported by Ex in the past that he is ‘surplus to requirements‘ for the Hammers, so when he returns from his loan, he is unlikely to hang around for long.
Masuaku undoubtedly would have been hoping to use his time with Besiktas to remind everyone of his best qualities, but he will have a hard time doing that if he can’t stay fit.
