Journalist Dean Jones has claimed West Ham United winger Said Benrahma may look to leave the club next summer if he can’t rediscover his best form this season.
The Algerian joined the Hammers on loan back in 2020 before making his switch permanent shortly after. However, it’s hard to escape the feeling that he isn’t quite achieving what he would have liked since the move.
For instance, Benrahma has started just 5 of a possible 13 games in the Premier League this term. It seems as though he is yet to truly convince manager David Moyes of his talent.
While speaking about the player on Chasing Green Arrows, Jones went as far as to say the West Ham boss is likely ‘frustrated’ by the winger due to his style of play.
He then concluded that due to this apparent issue, he fully expects Benrahma to seek a summer exit if things can’t be fixed across the span of the season.
Responding to a viewer’s comment that Moyes is not Benrahma’s biggest fan as he was not the manager who signed him, Jones said: “I think that there is some truth to that, too. You know, Benrahma barely ever gets 90. I think he probably frustrates Moyes, like, I can see why he would annoy him, the style of player he is.
“I think you have to embrace a player like that. Like you’re either all-in or you can’t handle him because he can be annoying. But he can also be a gamechanger.
“He’s a brilliant footballer. Honestly, I think if it doesn’t work out for him properly this season will probably look to move on.”
