ExWHUemployee has revealed that West Ham United midfielder Nikola Vlasic is close to joining loan club Torino on a permanent basis.
The Croatian only joined the Hammers in August 2021 after signing from CSKA Moscow for a reported fee of £26.8m plus £7.7m in possible add-ons.
However, after flopping during his debut season with West Ham, Vlasic departed for Italy on loan at the start of this campaign – and life seems to be going a lot better for him in Serie A.
Indeed, such is his fine form, Ex has claimed Torino are ‘so impressed’ that they want to sign the midfielder permanently, and could do so in the near future.
While speaking on The West Ham Way podcast, he said: “Vlasic is apparently close to Torino. They’ve been so impressed with him, they’re apparently close to actually triggering the deal now to complete him on a permanent basis. So that would give us a bit of cash as well.”
TIF Thoughts on Nikola Vlasic and West Ham…
While playing for West Ham in the Premier League last season, Vlasic managed to score just one goal in 19 outings – and was only trusted by David Moyes to start six of those games (via Transfermarkt).
At Torino, he has already made a much better impact for his side. Indeed, in Serie A, he has started in 11 out of his 12 outings, scoring three goals and providing one assist. That assist, incidentally, came in the recent 2-1 win over Milan at the weekend.
Seeing as there is supposedly an option-to-buy clause inserted into his loan, it seems likely that this deal will be easy to pull off if both parties are happy to see Vlasic move on from England.
All in all, it sounds like this deal could be sorted pretty soon during the winter transfer window.
