ExWHUemployee has claimed that West Ham United may well look to sign a new right-back soon, having targeted one in the summer.

While it remains unclear as to who exactly David Moyes was after, there were reports from trusted journalist Fabrizio Romano that the Hammers were in the market for Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

While that deal never materialised, Ex is of the impression that West Ham could go back into the market soon enough to try to land a senior full-back and add some depth to the squad.

Indeed, while speaking on The West Ham Way podcast, he said: “I think a new right-back – even though we’ve got Coufal, Ben Johnson, Kehrer’s played well there – we were looking at one in the summer window. So I do believe he [Moyes] would look at another right-back, probably.”

TIF Thoughts on West Ham and the right-back role…

As Ex mentions, the club do already have options in that part of the pitch. Indeed, Vladimir Coufal, Ben Johnson and Thilo Kehrer can all play that role.

On top of that, the club have young talent Harrison Ashby, who can also play at right-back. However, his contract is running out, and with interest from Premier League clubs such as Newcastle United, he may well be on the move soon enough himself.

Kehrer is more of a centre-back, but that would still leave Coufal and Johnson as senior options, which is why it is interesting to hear this idea being touted.

Wan-Bissaka has hardly played for Manchester United since the summer, so if the Hammers are keen on a new player coming in, he likely would be available.
