Insider ExWHUemployee has revealed that West Ham United are not quite as close to agreeing a transfer for Brazilian defender Luizao as some may think.

According to Goal Brasil (via Hammers.news) the Sao Paulo man looks close to the exit door, with his current club already preparing to lose the young talent to the Premier League side.

Meanwhile, Ex himself has spoken recently about how the 20-year-old has rejected a new contract and that West Ham are hoping to swoop in and land him in the near future.

Despite this genuine interest, Ex has warned that a deal isn’t done just yet and negotiations may have even hit a snag – as the Irons aren’t keen to pay any compensation to Sao Paulo.

While talking on The West Ham Way podcast, he explained: “One player that we have been linked with is Luizao from Sao Paulo, and I’ve already said on this podcast, factually, we have had talks.

“But as always, people have jumped the gun and said, ‘oh, it’s a done deal, he’s waved goodbye to his teammates, it’s a done deal’.

“It isn’t a done deal. I spoke to people that would know at the club. Talks are still ongoing.

“The main problem seems to be [that] we don’t want to pay a fee for him because he’s out of contract, but because of his age, we have to pay compensation.

“But we’ve tried to strike an agreement with Sao Paulo that we would rather not pay any compensation, but we’ll give you a percentage of any future sell-on fees because then that guards us against him flopping.”
