BBC pundit Chris Sutton has urged the West Ham United board to stick with manager David Moyes despite growing uncertainty over his job.
Having now fallen to defeat in their past three Premier League outings, it’s safe to say this winter World Cup break couldn’t have come at a more welcome time for the Hammers.
Indeed, a demoralising 2-0 home loss against Leicester City at the weekend just about summed up the club’s form of late, and it has consequently led to big question marks over Moyes’ future.
However, while speaking on BBC Radio 5’s 606, Sutton claimed that the manager had ‘proven’ himself enough to deserve more time to turn things around at West Ham.
He explained: “It’s such a short-term approach a lot of football fans want to take. What a job he’s done over a considerable period of time now at West Ham, and this is just a blip.
“So any little blip, we’re just gonna start saying sack managers, let’s get a new manager in who will want a big overhaul of the squad and that will cost the club millions.
“Stick with David Moyes. He is the right man for the West Ham job, he’s proven that.”
