Presenter ExWHUemployee has revealed that West Ham United winger Maxwel Cornet should be fit when the club are next back in action.
The Ivorian joined in the summer in a reported £17.5m deal, having signed a five-year contract after leaving Burnley who had just been relegated from the Premier League.
However, his time with West Ham so far has been blighted by injury struggles. Indeed his fitness issues prevented him from playing any part in the club’s last seven league games before the break for the World Cup.
However, in a positive update on Cornet, Ex has claimed that the winger should be ready to feature again for the Hammers once domestic football returns.
Indeed, he told The West Ham Way podcast (13:48): “Cornet is expected to be fit for when the season resumes.”
TIF Thoughts on Maxwel Cornet and West Ham…
This comes as another big boost for the Hammers after Ex delivered a promising update involving Kurt Zouma.
Up to this stage in his West Ham career, Cornet has managed just 86 minutes of league action, spread across five appearances. He has at least delivered a bit of form in Europe, picking up five assists in four games in the Europa Conference League and the qualifiers before the competition’s group stage (via Transfermarkt).
Even so, his limited game time is obviously due to his injury issues and so David Moyes will be hoping to have his summer signing fit and ready to feature in the second half of the season.
Fortunately, the break for the World Cup looks to be long enough to afford him enough time to fully recover and so Cornet will hopefully be playing for West Ham directly after the winter tournament in Qatar.
