West Ham United will not have a lot of funds made available in the January transfer window after their busy summer.
This is what ExWHUemployee has claimed when speaking about potential new arrivals at the London Stadium on The West Ham Way podcast.
The Hammers enter the World Cup break on the back of another disappointing home display against Leicester City, which saw David Moyes’ men lose 2-0 to the Foxes.
Over the summer, West Ham spent a whopping £158m across their eight signings, with three of those players costing over the £30m mark.
Having spent so freely in the summer window, Ex now believes the purse strings will be kept fairly tight in January by the owners, meaning fans should not get their hopes up for a busy winter window.
He said: “I don’t believe there’ll be that much money available for players in January considering we spent so much in the summer, and also we’re on the Financial Fair Play warning list.
“I think if we sign anyone, it’d possibly be a right-back and I think it would also require us to sell [Harrison] Ashby and [Craig] Dawson, maybe. So I don’t think we’ll bring many in, in January.”

We think this will certainly come to the frustration of some Hammers fans given the position they find themselves in the table ahead of the World Cup break.

It is apparent they are struggling in front of goal, with just 12 goals to their name – the third-lowest of any side in the English top flight.
But the likes of Jarrod Bowen and Gianluca Scamacca are yet to really get going, with just four goals each to their names at this stage in the campaign.
So if the Hammers are able to get some of their attacking weapons firing, we do not think the east Londoners are in need of a big January window.
