Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero has been slammed after his performance for Argentina. The South American side were defeated in an upset to Saudi Arabia.
Here’s what Pedrosa had to say on Twitter, ‘This is Argentina’s weakest link. Otamendi and Romero are far from the best in the world. It’s a collectively strong team, but individually leaves something to be desired.’
TIF’s view on Pedrosa’s comments…
We believe it’s a day to forget for Spurs’ Cristian Romero. Losing to a team which is ranked so much lower than you are is bad enough, but to be one of the poorest performers in that side, it’s got to hurt. He was even given a 4/10 rating by the Independent.
Granted, the 24-year-old has just returned from injury. But this was not the statement to make on your first game back.
We know how good Romero can be. Last season he was one of Spurs’ standout players. This return onto the pitch will have some Tottenham fans worried that the injury has affected his ability.
Romero could well be dropped after that performance against Saudi Arabia. Lionel Scaloni has a big decision to make on how he freshens up his starting XI.
