Tottenham Hotspur will now be without one of their main men in Rodrigo Bentancur upon their return from the World Cup break after the Uruguayan picked up his fifth yellow card of the campaign.

This has been highlighted by reliable Spurs journalist Alasdair Gold, who has been speaking on his latest YouTube video following the Lilywhites’ victory at the weekend.

Spurs were once again left fighting until the death for all three points with Bentancur, not for the first time this season, stepping up to win the game for Antonio Conte’s side.

Starting with the club's £60m summer signing, which of these players could Richarlison be facing?

The midfielder will now jet off to Qatar for the World Cup in the midst of some seriously impressive form which has seen the 23-year-old net five times this term.

However, he will not be able to feature in the Boxing Day trip to Brentford after picking up a suspension before the disciplinary cut-off at the 19th game of the Premier League campaign.

Gold gave his thoughts, saying: “He will miss the Brentford game, though, because as I said before, he and Kane were on four yellow cards. He got the fifth in the game yesterday [Saturday], so he will have that one-match suspension.

“He will miss that game and they’ll miss him a lot, they really will.”

TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…

Bentancur has been in sensational form in recent weeks and has played a huge role in getting Spurs to the World Cup break in a respectable fourth spot.

So being without him for the trip to Brentford will certainly be a big miss in the middle, but it will mean the likes of Oliver Skipp and/or Yves Bissouma will be given an opportunity to impress Conte.

With the Uruguayan away at the World Cup, everyone at Spurs will be hoping he is only missing for the game against the Bees and is able to avoid any injury issues, as missing him in the long term would be a huge blow for those in north London.
