Journalist Pete O’Rourke claimed Tottenham Hotspur may well ‘explore’ a possible transfer for Ruslan Malinovskyi this January.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness), Spurs are well in the mix to land the Atalanta star with talks ‘expected’ to take place over a potential move.

Reports in Italy (via FourFourTwo), also explain that Malinovskyi will be out of contract at the end of the season and so his current side may look to sell him this winter so as to not lose him for nothing in the summer.

It remains unclear as to whether or not these reports are entirely accurate but O’Rourke has confirmed that Tottenham have held an interest in the player for some time and so a deal could be on the cards soon.

Indeed, he told This Is Futbol: “Yeah, obviously, this one has been going on for a while now. He’s been a long-term target for Tottenham.

“So this is a deal that they might explore in January to see if they can get it done.”

TIF thoughts on Ruslan Malinovskyi and Spurs…

It has been claimed that Conte has made a ‘request’ for Spurs to sign the midfielder, who has been hailed as a ‘dazzling’ player, in January.

Spurs, of course, have been pretty happy to sign players from Serie A in recent times. For instance, Cristian Romero, Ivan Perisic, Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur have all arrived from Italy.

Manager Antonio Conte is obviously familiar with the league too – having won numerous trophies in the country – and so the club should know plenty about Malinovskyi if they have been scouting him for some time.

At 28 years of age, the midfielder has impressed at Atalanta for a number of seasons now and has 30 goals and 28 assists in 142 outings. It’ll no doubt be interesting to see if Tottenham chase a transfer in January.

Judging from these latest comments, it certainly sounds as if there’s a big chance of that happening.
