Joe Thomlinson has been shining a light on Harry Kane and the amazing goal involvement record he’s boasting for Tottenham Hotspur this season.

Kane has long been a very good striker for Spurs, having never scored fewer than 17 league goals in a single season since becoming a regular starter, which is a testament to how consistent the striker has become.

However, not much praise has been coming his way, mainly due to the fact Erling Haaland has been almost unstoppable this season, while Tottenham haven’t been performing very well or been the most pleasing side to watch.

Despite his club’s sluggish start to the season, losing six games, Thomlinson has highlighted Kane’s 13 league goal involvements in 15 appearances while speaking on the Football Daily YouTube channel.

Thomlinson said: “I just think that Harry Kane, if Haaland wasn’t in the league, we’d be saying, like, what the hell’s going on here? He’s on course for 36 goals.

“He’s on course right now to have the highest goal output in Premier League history for a single campaign of 38 games, but it’s just because Haaland is on course for 60 that we’re not even talking about that.”

TIF Thoughts on Kane’s season so far…

The fact nobody is talking about Kane and what he’s achieving in a Spurs side that have limped over the line against the likes of Bournemouth and Leeds United is perhaps why he’s continued to do so well, as there appears to be no pressure or media spotlight on him.

How well do you know where these Spurs signings came from? Take our quiz to find out! Firstly, where did Dimitar Berbatov arrive from?

Given how Spurs have looked so poor in defence this season by shipping 21 goals already – with Hugo Lloris to making the fifth-most saves in the league after 15 games (FBref) – Kane will certainly need to keep up his form into the new year if they wish to finish in the top four.

Although Haaland has been a freak in front of goal for Manchester City the season, the fact that Kane is doing this sort of thing every year is a sign of just how good he is, but also perhaps makes it seem normal as he does it so effortlessly, which certainly isn’t the case.
